At the meeting, Deputy PM Hai said he was glad that both sides had agreed to expand co-operation into areas such as oil and gas, agriculture-forestry-aquaculture and industrial processing.
Hai said he believed that Viet Nam would benefit a great deal from co-operating with Venezuela in agricultural development.
Milano briefed Hai on the intergovernmental committee meeting between Viet Nam and Venezuela held from March 9-11, saying both sides had reviewed current areas of co-operation and ways to foster ties in various areas, including oil extraction. Venezuela will also send more experts to Viet Nam to help with irrigation systems for large-scale farms.
Viet Nam Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc and visiting Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister Xoan Pablo Noya discussed ways to increase bilateral co-operation in Ha Noi on Tuesday during the fifth political consultation between the two foreign ministries.
Ngoc said Viet Nam attaches great importance to boosting its comprehensive co-operation with Venezuela.
He expressed his satisfaction with recent progress in bilateral ties, adding that the countries had the opportunity to develop closer economic relations.
The two deputy foreign ministers touched upon several regional and global issues. They agreed that countries should settle sovereignty disputes peacefully, in line with international law.
They pledged further coordination at the UN, Non-Aligned Movement, Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation and other international forums. — VNS
