Vietnam's state-owned Central Bio-fuels in the central province of Quang Ngai produced 16,969 cu m of ethanol in 2014, accounting for 17% of the plant's design capacity, a statement on the website of state-owned PetroVietnam's Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical said Tuesday.
Central Bio-fuel is under the management of BSR, the operator of the country's 130,000 b/d Dung Quat refinery in the province.
Central Bio-fuel sold 19,890 cu m of ethanol in 2014, including stocks from 2013, the statement said.
Of the total, only 4,146 cu m was used for producing E5 92 RON gasoline. Most of the remaining 15,744 cu m was exported.
E5 is a blend comprising of 5% of ethanol and 95% of 92 RON gasoline.
BSR, one of the main E5 producers in Vietnam, started producing E5 in July last year.
It produced and sold 34,306 cu m of E5 to the local market during July-December 2014, said BSR.
Vietnam began limited sales of E5 in 5 big cities and 2 provinces on December 1, 2014.
The fuel will be enforced nationwide from December 1, 2015.
