LONDON – First oil and gas has flowed from the H5 wellhead platform (H5-WHP) on the Te Giac Trang (TGT) field in the Cuu Long basin offshore southern Vietnam.
According to partner SOCO International, start-up was over a month ahead of schedule.
The well perforation campaign will continue over the next two weeks, with a view to balancing the need to maximize production from the new platform with managing natural production decline rates and water-cut from the existing wells, based on the total liquids handling capacity available on the FPSO.
H5-WHP is on the southern part of the TGT field in block 16-1, 100 km (62 mi) from Vung Tau, 20 km (12 mi) northwest of the Bach Ho field and 35 km (21.7 mi) west of the Rang Dong field.
This is the third TGT platform to be brought into production since the field was discovered in 2005. The first, H1-WHP, came onstream in August 2011, followed by H4-WHP in July 2012.
TGT’s produced crude is transported via a subsea pipeline to an FPSO where it is processed, stored, and exported by tankers to regional oil refineries.
The field’s gas is transported by pipeline to the nearby Bach Ho facilities for processing and onward transportation to shore by pipeline for onward delivery to Vietnam’s domestic market.
The Hoang Long Joint Operating Co. responsible for the TGT development comprises SOCO, PetroVietnam Exploration & Production Corp., and PTT Exploration and Production.
