Mr. Do Van Hau - General Director of the National Petroleum Group of Vietnam (PVN) said that PVN has increased the investment for its ethanol projects up to 5% in the first six months this year. Currently, PVN has three ethanol plants which are going to supply about 300,000 cubic meter of ethanol for domestic market.

However, the most difficult thing is weak demand. Consumption of ethanol production is only accounting for 20-30% of total production. Many countries around the world have used the E10 product but Vietnam is still difficulty in popularizing the use of E5 product. Consequently, PVN has proposed the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to take the measures to bring it penetrate deeply into the market.

Mr. Nguyen Huy Hoang, the head of Ministry of Industry and Trade has also asked Department of Science and Technology and the General Department of Energy in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology to issue product standards in order to quickly bring it become a popular product in the market.
