Latest TGT project offshore Vietnam on track for summer start-up

Offshore staff

LONDON – SOCO International says production from the Te Giac Trang (TGT) field offshore southern Vietnam has averaged nearly 34,000 boe/d so far this year.

The figure is slightly below expectations due to drilling delays. This summer production will likely be lower as a result of a planned shutdown of the FPSO for hook-up of the H5 well and maintenance.

The Hoang Long Joint Operating Co. (HLJOC) partners have completed production logging on selected wells which they plan to evaluate to determine the need for additional perforations and/or water shut-offs.

Both rigs have been released following completion of this year’s TGT/H5 drilling campaign. Five of the six planned wells have been drilled and completed, two from the H5 platform and three from the H4 platform.

The TGT-25P development well was also drilled to appraise the deeper Oligocene section, but this section had to be P&A’d after encountering high pressure. The HLJOC is reviewing ways of re-entering this deep section in future drilling programs.

SOCO says the H5 development project is progressing well with contracts awarded for the installation, hookup, and commissioning of the facilities. The topsides will likely be installed in mid-July, with first oil probably ahead of the target start-up of September/October.

As for the offshore Ca Ngu Vang (CNV) field, SOCO and its partners in the Hoan Vu Joint Operating Co. are looking to increase output via modifications to the process facilities on the reception platform at Vietsovpetro’s Bach Ho complex. They have initiated engineering studies.

A decision on re-entering the CNV-7P well should follow this summer after completion of drilling engineering-related studies, but in SOCO’s view it is unlikely to be re-drilled this year.
