Dầu thô giảm giá mạnh sau số liệu GDP quý đầu không khả quan của Mỹ

Dầu thô giao dịch cận mức thấp 2 ngày tại New York khi kinh tế Mỹ có dấu hiệu chững lại làm dấy lên lo ngại rằng nhu cầu nhiên liệu có thể giảm Ä‘i tại quốc gia tiêu thụ dầu mỏ lá»›n nhất thế giá»›i này.

Giao dịch sau ít thay đổi sau khi giảm 1.1 % cuối phiên hôm qua. Bá»™ ThÆ°Æ¡ng mại Mỹ báo cáo GDP tăng 1.8 % hàng năm trong quý 1, thấp hÆ¡n so vá»›i mức dá»± Ä‘oán 2.2 % của các chuyên gia kinh tế. Tá»· lệ thất nghiệp sÆ¡ bá»™ cÅ©ng bất ngờ tăng tuần trÆ°á»›c.

Hôm qua, giá Ä‘ã giảm 1.09 USD 1.09 USD xuống còn 100.23 mức thấp nhất trong 3 ngày. Giá tuần này Ä‘ã tăng 0.6% và 34% so vá»›i năm trÆ°á»›c. Dầu thô giao tháng 7 tăng 12 cent, tÆ°Æ¡ng Ä‘Æ°Æ¡ng 0.1%, lên mức 115.05 USD/thùng tại sàn ICE Futures Europe – London, mức giá Ä‘óng phiên cao nhất kể từ 10/5.

Oil Trades Near Two-Day Low on Signs of Slowing U.S. Economic Expansion

Oil traded near a two-day low in New York as signs of slowing growth in the U.S. stoked speculation that fuel demand may falter in the world’s biggest crude- consuming nation.

Futures were little changed after slipping 1.1 percent yesterday. The Commerce Department reported that gross domestic product in the U.S. expanded at a 1.8 percent annual rate in the first quarter, slower than the 2.2 percent estimated in a Bloomberg News survey of economists. Initial jobless claims unexpectedly rose last week.

“It’s getting harder and harder for the energy markets to ignore the economic backdrop,” said John Kilduff, a partner at Again Capital LLC, a New York-based hedge fund that focuses on energy. The gross domestic product “number showed that growth is slowing, which underscores the poor economic data of the last few weeks,” he said.

Crude for July delivery was at $100.08 a barrel, down 15 cents, in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange at 8:36 a.m. Sydney time. Futures yesterday fell $1.09 to $100.23, the lowest settlement since May 24. Prices are up 0.6 percent this week and 34 percent higher the past year.
Brent oil for July settlement rose 12 cents, or 0.1 percent, to $115.05 a barrel yesterday on the London-based ICE Futures Europe exchange, the highest closing price since May 10.

Brent Premium
The European benchmark contract traded at a premium of $14.82 a barrel to U.S. futures yesterday. The difference between front-month contracts in London and New York surged to a record $19.54 on Feb. 21. It averaged 76 cents last year.

Consumer spending cooled in the first quarter by more than previously estimated as rising prices held back the biggest part of the U.S. economy. Household purchases rose at a 2.2 percent annual pace over the period, less than the 2.7 percent calculated last month and short of the 2.8 percent median forecast by Bloomberg News, the government said.

Applications for unemployment benefits increased by 10,000 to 424,000 in the week ended May 21, the Labor Department said. The median estimate of economists in a Bloomberg News survey called for a drop to 404,000.

Oil in New York, heading for the first monthly decline since August, has rebounded from its Fibonacci support near $95 a barrel, a level based on weekly price swings over the past year, according to Stephanie Aymes, a technical analyst at Societe Generale SA. Crude will probably continue to trade “sideways” in coming weeks before climbing to $106 a barrel, the next
Fibonacci retracement level, she said.
